01 Why we exist

Restoration is a social problem before it is a botanical one.

India's ecological decline is well documented — shrinking forest cover, degraded soil, and heat stress concentrated in the places with the least green space. What is less often said is that the communities bearing the cost have almost no say in how restoration happens.

Eco Human Foundation was set up to change that arrangement. We design programmes that begin with the people who live on the land: they choose the sites, host the nurseries, plant the species that belong there, and keep them alive long after the cameras have gone.

The Green Impact Initiative is the current expression of that approach — a structured, multi-phase plan to restore degraded land across India, from urban heat islands to tribal belts and coastal ecosystems.

02 Vision & mission

What we are working towards.

Vision

A greener, more sustainable India where every community lives in harmony with nature, and every individual has access to a clean, healthy environment.

By leveraging sustainable ecological programmes, collaborative effort and advocacy, we aim to contribute meaningfully to global climate action and biodiversity conservation — making a lasting impact on the planet.

Mission

To restore and protect India's natural ecosystems through large-scale plantation drives, soil conservation, and community-driven environmental solutions.

We aim to build a compassionate, eco-conscious society where no community suffers because of environmental degradation — ensuring a healthier and more equitable ecological future for all.

03 How we work

Four commitments we do not trade away.

01

Community first

Sites, species and schedules are decided with the people who live there — not handed to them.

02

Native by default

Indigenous species, local seed banks and soil-matched planting, because survival rates depend on it.

03

Transparent by design

Quarterly financial reporting, independent audit and a public dashboard for every funded programme.

04

Built to last

Community nurseries and training generate their own revenue, so the work continues between grants.

04 Global alignment

Two Sustainable Development Goals, one landscape.

Our programmes are mapped to the UN 2030 Agenda. Progress against both goals is reported annually alongside our financial statements.

13 SDG

Climate Action

Restoring forest cover, combating desertification and rebuilding soil carbon across all terrain types — from urban peripheries to degraded farmland.

15 SDG

Life on Land

Sustainable land use, soil conservation and biodiversity protection — with native species chosen to rebuild the ecological relationships a monoculture cannot.

05 Milestones

How we got here.

2020

Registered as a public charitable trust

Eco Human Foundation is entered in the Gujarat public trusts register (E/22241/Ahmedabad) on 5 March 2020, with a mandate for environmental sustainability and community development.

2025

Green Impact Initiative designed

A twelve-part programme plan sets out activities, methodology, infrastructure, funding strategy, targets, budget and a monitoring framework.

2026

2026–27

Pilot phase begins

Green zones launch in high-need urban peripheries and tribal belts, with a target of 5,000 hectares in the first three months.

06 Governance

Who answers for the work.

Eco Human Foundation is a public charitable trust. Its board of trustees holds fiduciary responsibility for the trust's objects, funds and compliance; day-to-day delivery is run by a programme team across field operations, nursery management and community engagement.

Funds for the Green Impact Initiative are held in a dedicated bank account, audited independently, and reported quarterly to funding partners alongside a programme dashboard. The trust maintains separate books for any incidental business activity, as required under section 12A.
